Women's Cross Country

Small logo(North Canton, Ohio)- Members of the SUNY Canton men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NAIA Region IX meet on Saturday at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio.

The women's team qualified for the meet after winning the Sunrise Conference and Region X meet at Paul Smith's College on October 27. Justin Forth (Gouverneur, N.Y.) was the lone representative for the men's team as he qualified after finishing in sixth place at the Sunrise Conference and Region X meet at Paul Smith's.

Leslie Wilson (Rensselaer Falls, N.Y.), Danielle Mellon (Oneida, N.Y.), Katharine Hyla (Fulton, N.Y.) and Daynelle Richards (South Ozone Park, N.Y.) all ran on Saturday for the Roos. Katie Ordway (North Creek, N.Y.) was unable to run after suffering an ankle injury this week and Amy Dufore (Norfolk, N.Y.) was also unable to run due to illness.

Wilson was the high finisher for SUNY Canton as she came in 40th in the 5K race in a time of 20:28, which was her second fastest time of the season. Mellon recorded a personal best time of 22:55 to finish in 85th place. Hyla also had a personal best time of 23:24 to finish in 90th place and Richards finished 102nd in a time of 25:37.

Forth ran them men's 8K race in a time of 28:45 to finish in 55th place.

Runners from Paul Smith's College and the University of Maine at Machias also represented the Sunrise Conference on Saturday.
