Conover and Richardson Lead Roos at North Country Invitational
(Potsdam, N.Y.)- Freshman Lorraine Conover (Oneida, N.Y.) finished in 16th place to lead the SUNY Canton women's cross country team at the North Country Cross Country Invitational at Clarkson University on Wednesday.
Conover ran the 5K race in a time of 22:20. The other four runners for SUNY Canton in their first race of the season took places 35 to 38. Junior Vickie Olds (Bronx, N.Y.) was 35th (29:26), junior Julie Vander Wiel (Malone, N.Y.) was 36th (29:50), sophomore Katelyn Anthony (Spencerport, N.Y.) was 37th (29:53) and freshman Kristie Melven was 38th (29:54).
Freshman Justin Richardson (Pavilion, N.Y.) led the men's team for the second straight meet as he took 21st place in a time of 19:45 in the 3.3 mile race. Junior Byron Danis (Rensselaer Falls, N.Y.) came in 38th place in a time of 20:54. Freshman Shawn Wakefield (Cohoes, N.Y.) was 59th (23:09), freshman Joel Landry (Malone, N.Y.) was 60th (23:14), freshman Tyler Morse (North Creek, N.Y.) was 65th (25:37), and senior Bradley Hamilton (Salem, N.Y.) was 66th (26:24).
