(Canton, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton women's soccer team played their first Sunrise Conference game on Saturday and it was a successful debut as the Kangaroos dominated the College of St. Joseph 6-0 at St. Lawrence University's North Country Field.

SUNY Canton (1-0 Sunrise Conference, 1-1 overall) led 4-0 at halftime and out shot the Fighting Saints 29-2.

Shirley DuBrey (Saranac, N.Y.) notched what turned out to be the game-winning goal when she scored from Lauren Ploof (Hammond, N.Y.) in the fourth minute. Niki Perkins (Potsdam, N.Y.) then scored two consecutive goals. Her first came from Ploof in the 12th minute and then she re-directed a nice cross from Erin Tulip (Constable, N.Y.) midway through the first half. Aubrey Parrish (Greene, N.Y.) scored the final goal of the half with 1:53 remaining off an assist to Aimee Bookmiller (Bliss, N.Y.).

Ploof and Amanda DeLyser (Marion, N.Y.) each added unassisted goals off well-placed free kicks in the second half for the final score.

Brenna Sexton (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) made just one save for her third career shutout.

Katie Chase (12 saves) and Maria Filiburto combined to make 13 saves for the Fighting Saints.
