Small logo(Potsdam, N.Y.)- The top two women's soccer teams in the Sunrise Conference met on the field Saturday and SUNY Canton came out on top with a 4-2 win over the University of Maine at Fort Kent in Potsdam. The Roos remained undefeated in conference play improving to 3-0 and 3-2 overall.

Both teams traded goals 14 minutes into the game. The Bengals (2-1, 2-2-2) struck first when Jodyann Blake scored from Brianne McGary in the 14th minute. The Roos countered just 18 seconds later when Erin Tulip (Constable, N.Y.) connected for her first goal of the year from Lauren Ploof (Hammond, N.Y.).

Blake gave Fort Kent their last lead of the game two minutes later with her second goal of the game from Maria Williams.

After that it was all SUNY Canton and especially freshman Justine Monahan (Ellington, Conn.) who scored the final three goals of the afternoon.

Monahan tied the game with her first goal with 6:39 left in the first half off an assist to Brandi Moran (Ogdensburg, N.Y.). Monahan's second goal, the game-winner, came four minutes later from Niki Perkins (Potsdam, N.Y.) and then she completed the hat trick with her third goal in the 60th minute from Amanda DeLyser (Marion, N.Y.).

Brenna Sexton (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) had two saves for the Roos who held a 16-7 advantage in shots.
Liz LaPlante had nine saves for the Bengals.
