Small logo (Potsdam, N.Y.)- The SUNY Canton women's soccer team played their first game as a four-year athletic program on Saturday when they traveled to SUNY Potsdam. The Bears spoiled the Kangaroos NAIA debut capturing a 4-0 win on their home turf.

The Roos, who averaged nearly four goals a game last year, struggled to get going offensively on Saturday as they were out shot 9-4.

Sophomore Brenna Sexton (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) recorded four saves in goal for the Roos (0-1).

Sophomore forward Nicole Volpi tallied all four goals for the Bears (3-1). Volpi connected twice in the first half off assists from Lacey Malbeuf and Maureen Curley and then added two unassisted goals in the second half. Sarah Casey had two saves in the shutout for the Bears.
