(Canton, N.Y.)- Sophomore goalie Brenna Sexton (Baldwinsville, N.Y.)
has been named the Sunrise Conference Defensive Player of the Year in
womens soccer. Sexton is joined on the all-conference and All-Region
X team by junior forward Erin Tulip (Constable, N.Y.), sophomore midfielders
Niki Perkins (Potsdam, N.Y.) and Lauren Ploof (Hammond, N.Y.) and junior
defender Vanessa Badlam (Canton, N.Y.).
Sexton played every minute in goal for the Roos and posted 13 shutouts while recording a 0.88 goals-against average and a .783 save percentage.
Perkins led the team in scoring with 17 goals and 13 assists for 47 points. Ploof was second with 14 goals and a team-high 14 assists for 42 points and Tulip scored 16 goals and eight assists for 40 points. Tulip and Perkins tied for the team-lead in shots with 71 apiece.
Badlam recorded 17 shots and also had two goals and two assists.
Forward Brianne McGary from the University of Maine at Fort Kent was
named the conference Offensive Player of the Year and Rookie of the
Year. Tony Turini of the University of Maine at Machias was named Coach
of the Year and his Clippers team received the Sportsmanship Award.
