Coach Mary Helak
Mary is in her first season as head coach of the women's volleyball and softball teams at SUNY Canton.
This past fall she was named the Sunrise Conference Coach of the Year after guiding the women's volleyball team to the Sunrise Conference championship and a berth in the NAIA National Tournament. The Roos finished 8-0 in conference play and 16-10 overall.
Helak was an assistant softball coach this past season at Virginia Wesleyan College and has coached in numerous volleyball and basketball camps in the Buffalo area. Helak has also coach girl’s basketball at St. Mary’s High School in Lancaster, N.Y.
Prior to coaching, Helak was a standout volleyball and softball player at Medaille College in Buffalo. She was an All-American and all-conference volleyball player and earned all-conference honors in softball while serving as a captain in each sport.
