Philosophy
PHIL 201 INTRODUCTION TO PHILOSOPHY
Spring, 3 credit hours GER 7
Rather than a history of philosophy, this
course will focus on a study of personal values,
ethics, and self-understanding in relation to
life and its challenges. Students will compare
traditional and contemporary philosophies and
discuss how, when we face issues, we search for
answers to life and its problems. Students will
learn how to inquire into complex problems
using effective methods of inquiry, analysis,
and criticism, in order to begin to formulate
their own philosophy. Three hours lecture per
week.
