Academic/Professional Information

Robert is a teacher, poet, and literary critic.  Aside from his creative work, his current main areas of research are the Puritan conversion narrative and the spiritual strains of American verse.  You can read his poetry online here, here, and here; his criticism appears in The Boston Review.  A brief description of his Mellon fellowship research at the Massachusetts Historical Society can be found here.  Robert's anthology of American spiritual poetry will be released by Autumn House Press in 2007.  He is currently working on a College Writing textbook with Dr. Hillory Oakes.
