Current Study / Design Activity

SUCF 231018 Rehab Dana Hall

This project is in Design Phase. The scope of this project includes the interior renovation of Dana Hall, repurpose of space, replacement of HVAC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Final Design / Bid Phase documents are anticipated Fall Semester 2018 with Construction Phase beginning Spring Semester 2019.

SUCF 231020 Mechanical & Electrical Systems Study – MacArthur Hall & Wicks Hall

This project is currently in Study Phase. The scope of this project is to determine the most practical and economical means of replacing existing mechanical and electrical systems in MacArthur Hall and Wicks Hall with energy efficient systems and still be able to operate the buildings during normal business hours and during academic session. A key component of this project is the Geothermal Clean Energy Challenge presented by NYPA and NYSERDA to accelerate the installation of high quality ground-source heat pump (GSHP) systems. The Geothermal Clean Energy Challenge was developed to stimulate and finance the installation of best-in-class, large-scale geothermal systems, known as ground-source heat pump (GSHP) systems. These systems reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions. Increasing the use of these systems will play a major role in achieving Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s goal to reduce New York State’s greenhouse gas emissions 40 percent by 2030. SUNY Canton was approved as one of the first 75 candidates that will receive a free ground-source heat pump screening analysis through the Geothermal Clean Energy Challenge program. The study is anticipated to be complete Fall / Winter 2018-19.

SUCF 231029 Study - Site Improvements French Hall, Roselle Plaza, Cornell Drive

This project is to complete a study to define the scope of work for site upgrades and site design improvements. The project is to provide a field survey, assess the condition of the sidewalks, stairs, identified plazas and the trees along Cornell Drive. The field survey work and recommendations are to guide construction projects to improve, replace and/or redesign the campus walkways and campus landscaping to be completed in the next five years. The primary goal of this project is to study, plan and create projects to create a sustainable plan to replace and/or supplement the trees along Cornell Drive and to develop an accessible route to Roselle Plaza from French Hall and from the parking lots west and south of French Hall.

L23101 CARC – Existing Building Commissioning (EBx)

Existing Building Commissioning ((EBCx) is ongoing at the CARC. EBCx is a systematic process for investigating, analyzing, and optimizing the performance of building systems through the identification and implementation of low/no cost and capital intensive Facility Improvement Measures ((FIMs) and ensuring their continued performance. The EBCx process assists in making the building systems perform interactively to meet the Current Facility Requirements (CFR) and provides the tools to support the continuous improvement of system performance over time. The EBCx process focuses on the dynamic energy-using systems with the goal of reducing energy waste, obtaining energy cost savings, and identifying and correcting existing problems. All phases of work including Planning, Investigation, Implementation and Turnover are anticipated to be complete March 2019.
