- Building Services cleaning chemicals are green-seal certified
- Building Services paper products are derived from recycled materials
- Bio-diesel is used in lawn mowing equipment 3-seasons
- Spent oil from the garage is recycled
New programs
- Building temperature set-points reduced to conserve energy
- Building services cleaning chemical usage is continually evaluated; the goal is to reduce consumption. Some progress has been achieved.
- Mowing operations will be substantially reduced beginning next spring
- Snow removal operations were reduced last winter to the extent possible consistent with safety considerations
- Used office paper being recycled into memo pads – the utility of this program is very limited and probably should be dropped from conservation initiatives
- The last person to leave the Physical Plant each day turns out lights, other than those necessary to maintain the building’s safety and security
