Tenure Track Faculty - Criminal Justice
Commensurate with Credentials and Experience
The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Canton invites qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure track position in the Criminal Justice Department, to begin August 2014. The teaching load is 4, 3-credit courses per semester.
SUNY Canton is a technical college within the SUNY system with 3,500 students. The Department of Criminal Justice is in the College of Science, Health, and Criminal Justice and offers an Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Technology in Criminal Investigation, a Bachelor of Technology in Criminal Justice: Law Enforcement Leadership, and a Bachelor of Technology in Homeland Security with a total of 600 students enrolled in the department.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
- Teach face-to-face classes
- Teach online classes
- Incorporate latest instructional technologies in course delivery
- Design and develop new courses
- Recruit and advise students
- Monitor and improve student retention
- Participate in faculty committees and other activities, as assigned
- Continually develop and improve skills through professional development
A master's degree in Criminal Justice or a Master’s degree in a closely related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in a CJ discipline or a J.D. from a regionally accredited institution. Also required is at least four years of professional experience in the field of criminal justice. A PhD in criminal justice or related field from a regionally accredited institution is preferred and will be required for tenure. Preferred candidates will have prior college level teaching experience in either the face-to-face or online environment.
