DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The SUNY Canton Counseling Center seeks a Counselor for a full time, 11-month position with significant clinical and outreach experience working with a diverse population. The Counselor will provide assistance to students with personal, social, academic and/or vocational needs including crisis intervention and referrals. Help develop and implement educational and prevention programs for the entire campus community as it relates to the psychological needs of college students emphasizing the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Evening and weekend hours required.

QUALIFICATIONS: The position requires NYS licensure as a mental health counselor or clinical social worker. Master’s degree in counseling, social work or equivalent is also required. College level counseling experience is preferred.

Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
