Tenure Track Faculty – Criminal Justice

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Canton invites qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor position (other ranks considered) in the Criminal Justice Department, to begin August 2017.
SUNY Canton is a college of technology within the SUNY system with 3,500 students. The Department of Criminal Justice is in the College of Science, Health, and Criminal Justice and offers an Associate in Applied Science in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Technology in Criminal Investigation, a Bachelor of Technology in Criminal Justice: Law Enforcement Leadership, and a Bachelor of Technology in Homeland Security with a total of 600 students enrolled in the department.
- Teach face-to-face classes
- Teach online classes
- Incorporate latest instructional technologies in course delivery
- Design and develop new courses
- Recruit and advise students
- Monitor and improve student retention
- Participate in faculty committees and other activities, as assigned
- Continually develop and improve skills through professional development
Appointment Start Date: August 2017
A master’s degree in the field of criminal justice and ABD in a relevant field or a J.D. from a regionally accredited institution and a member of a state bar. Also required is a minimum of five years of professional experience in the field of criminal justice. A PhD in the field of criminal justice OR a master’s in the field of criminal justice and other acceptable terminal degree OR master’s in Forensic Science with agency designated certification OR a JD and member of a state bar will be required for tenure. Preferred candidates will have prior college level teaching experience in either the face-to-face or online environment.
Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
