Staff Assistant (Financial Analyst)

SUNY Canton invites applicants for a Financial Analyst position within the Business Office of the Administrative Affairs Division.

Responsibilities include acting as primary Finance liaison with the Student Accounts Office to verify that cash received and expenses incurred by the Student Accounts Office have been properly recorded in the General Ledger; identifying, developing and documenting policies and procedures to ensure that adequate financial controls exist; preparing journal entries for complex transactions; assisting the Vice President for Administration in preparing SUNY and State of New York financial reports, researching and verifying data as needed; perform ad hoc analysis as needed. This position will also serve as the Internal Controls Officer and Security Administrator overseeing access to several on-line business related networks for the college.


A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or a related field is required. A minimum of one year’s experience in a business related environment is required. A Master’s degree in a Business related field is preferred.
