DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

SUNY Canton is seeking candidates for the position of Coordinator of Sponsored Programs. This person reports directly to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs with a direct line of communication to the Operations Manager of Research Foundation/Vice President of Administration. The coordinator will take an active leadership role as liaison between various grant agencies and faculty, professionals, and administrators. This college wide leadership role will help to foster and support an environment for securing and managing regional and national grant opportunities that advance strategic priorities.

This position requires building strong relationships within the institution while connecting externally with resources at the local, state, and national levels, as well as other granting agencies. The successful candidate will assist in the development and promotion of funded faculty and student research. The coordinator will promote sponsored research and provide training related to grant writing and award management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; excellent oral and written communication skills; evidence of leadership, negotiating, and decision-making abilities; demonstrated ability to participate effectively with multiple stakeholders (e.g., faculty, administrators & sponsors).

Preferred Qualifications are Master’s degree; designation of “Certified Research Administrator”; demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations relevant to grants administration, including the federal Uniform Guidance regulations; demonstrated knowledge of public and private grant funding sources and resources for identifying grant opportunities; demonstrated ability to match institutional and individual projects with appropriate grant sources.
