DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

SUNY Canton seeks an innovative leader of vision and energy to lead the School of Business and Liberal Arts. The Dean will play a pivotal role in planning, operations, assessment, continuous improvement, and growth of baccalaureate and associate programs; revising existing curricula and developing new programs; improving enrollment, retention and completion; and fostering the development of innovative initiatives in online learning and classroom technologies. The work of the Dean will be guided by the goals and metrics of the campus and divisional strategic plans.

Under the direction of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean is responsible for various bachelor degree programs in the areas of: Agribusiness Management (B.B.A.), Applied Psychology (B.S.), Emergency Management (B.S.), Finance (B.B.A.), Health Care Management (B.S.), Legal Studies (B.S.), and Management (B.B.A.) and associate degree programs in the areas of Accounting (A.A.S.), Apprentice Training: Industrial Trades (A.A.S.), Business Administration (A.S.), (A.A.S.), Early Childhood (A.S.), and Liberal Arts and Sciences: General Studies (A.A.), (A.S.).

The Dean will play a role in developing undergraduate and nontraditional offerings; supporting innovation in teaching and research; maintaining and strengthening professional relationships as well as developing articulation agreements with other institutions both secondary and post-secondary. The successful candidate will lead the School long-range academic and capital planning, assessment, curricular and grant development and work collaboratively with the other academic schools and offices on campus. Within the School, the Dean has oversight of student advising, faculty recruitment, retention, development and evaluation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications: Candidates will have earned tenure/continuing appointment as a full-time faculty member.

Preferred Qualifications Candidates may demonstrate potential for success with an earned doctorate from a regionally accredited university, administrative experience which includes the supervision of faculty, a record of teaching, service and scholarship to inform faculty evaluation, and a record of professional excellence. Candidates should be able to demonstrate leadership, creativity, enthusiasm, the ability to accomplish goals and the willingness to collaborate effectively with all constituencies.
