The Canino School of Engineering Technology, SUNY Canton seeks a faculty member in the area of Game Design and Development. Areas of expertise of particular interest should include game design, character design, level design and programming. Software expertise should include but not be limited to Unity and Unreal Engine with language proficiency in C# or other prevalent programming languages. Other specializations of interest might include information visualization, 2-D and 3-D digital animation and mobile interactive design. We are interested in candidates who possess critical and creative approaches to media-making, emerging technologies and the future of game design.


The successful candidate will be expected be part of ever-evolving programs and assist in growing enrollment. The candidate will teach in our Game Design and Development program. The faculty member is encouraged to be an innovator within her/his discipline. There is an expectation to perform applied scholarly activities on technological problems depending on candidate’s final academic rank. Faculty are also expected to participate in undergraduate instruction in the areas of technical competence; in faculty governance; in departmental, university, professional, and public service; and with an industry leader advisory board.


Master degree required. Preferred qualifications Ph.D. or M.F.A. in related fields to game design, graphic media or programming, experience in the gaming industry to include all aspects of the industry from design, story creation, coding, marketing, and management of design teams.

Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidate will be required to submit to a background check including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, and criminal background check.
