Borrowing and renewing materials: Check out this link for information on loan periods, renewals, fines and other information.
Interlibrary Loan: Use this service to obtain materials not available at Southworth Library. Contact Glen Bogardus, our Interlibrary Loan Specialist, if you have specific questions about our ILL policies or procedures.
Reserve Reading/Textbooks: The library contains a collection of many of the current semester's textbooks. Click on the Reserve Reading/Textbooks link to search the reserve catalog by instructor name or textbook title, or go to our "Show Me How" page to watch a short video tutorial on how to search the reserves catalog. Textbooks and reserve material are for "In-Library" use only. You can also borrow one of our ten iPads in the library for a period of up to 4 hours, each of which are loaded with a selection of electronic texts. Check them out here!
Services for online students: Information for students who do not come to the Canton campus for class.
Chat Reference: 24/7 chat reference is available from the library website by clicking either the Get Research Help Now icon, or using the online chat utility available on the homepage or in the Research Databases pages. Connect with a librarian live anytime you need research assistance!
Fishbowl Reservations: Use the online form available on the library website to request a reservation for the Fishbowl. Fishbowl reservations require an @canton.edu email address, are for official campus groups, and the space is prioritized for conferences and meetings.
Library Instruction: Use the online form available on the library website to request that a SUNY Canton librarian offer a library instruction session for your class.
Laptop Loan Program: Currently, laptops are available to be borrowed from the Circulation Desk during evening and weekend hours at Southworth Library Learning Commons. When the Help Desk is open its regular hours of daytime operation, laptops can be borrowed from there. Laptop loans are available for four-hour periods, in the library learning commons building.
Extended Hours During Final Exam Week: We are pleased to be able to offer 24-hour availability for extended access to study space, technology, tutoring, research tools and professional guidance during Final Exam Week each semester. We open at 8 a.m. on the Sunday preceding Finals, and are open continuously until 8:00 p.m. on Friday of that week.
