NYC Area Squads Need Donations of Medical Equipment and Supplies!!

As you know, the coast of NYC and Long Island has been devastated by Hurricane Sandy; including several of our own EMS agencies. NYSVARA has issued a call for donations to help get their own EMS agencies back up and running. Contact NYSVARA for more details and if you are able to help

Please keep in mind, if you intend on donating the use of ambulances or other vehicles that fall under Part 800, there are some regulations that will have to be met before these vehicles can be placed in-service in the disaster area. NYS EMS will make every attempt to accommodate these vehicle transfers as quickly as possible, but please contact your local State EMS Representative ahead of time to discuss what will need to be done.

From NYS Department of Health:

March 22, 2012

Dear Healthcare Provider:

The purpose of this letter is to alert you of an emerging threat to public health associated with the use of synthetic cannabinoids, which are used often by teens and young adults to mimic the effects of marijuana. Synthetic cannabinoids are marketed as "legal" and consist of plant material coated by chemicals which mimic THC, the active principle of marijuana.
