Last Chance for 2008 Summer Courses at Canton – July 28

Student on ComputerThe final session of SUNY Canton’s highly-successful 2008 Summerterm begins Monday, July 28 on campus.

“There is an English 101 Expository Writing course that is a freshmen requirement for all SUNY Canton programs and for most academic majors at every university,” said Associate Provost Pauline A. Graveline. “This is an excellent summer course offered to enable students to get a jump start on the upcoming academic year.”

A 300-level English course in Contemporary Young Adult Literature is also being offered. “This is an excellent opportunity for advanced students to focus on one upper-level course now, and then perhaps lighten their course load for the upcoming semester,” Graveline said.

This summer marked the third consecutive year of growth and expansion for the College’s Online and In-Class Summerterm session. There have been 687 enrollments during the first two sessions, which is a 10 percent increase from last year’s record-breaking Summerterm Sessions. College officials attribute the extraordinary growth to the implementation of online classes through SUNY Canton OnLine. Approximately 80 percent of this year’s summer students enrolled in OnLine Classes.
