Security Guard Training Class Offered March 12 at SUNY Canton

The SUNY Canton Center for Lifelong Learning is offering career-needed training for aspiring security guards.

The College will be offering the state-mandated eight-hour pre-assignment training course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 12, in SUNY Canton’s Payson Hall 111.

Steven L. Livernois, director of the College’s David Sullivan – St. Lawrence County Law Enforcement Academy, will lead the class. Livernois is the retired deputy chief of SUNY Canton University Police with more than 30 years experience in the fields of law enforcement and security.

This training is required under the New York State Security Guard Act of 1992. Security guards must complete the class prior to or shortly after employment.

The cost of the class and all related training materials is $85.
