“Tiffany is extra caring and compassionate when working with animals,” said Mary T. O’Horo Loomis, a professor in the Veterinary Science Technology program. “Her focus and attention to detail make her an excellent student.”

Previously, Moore received an academic award for the highest GPA in her major in 2013. The Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program named her an outstanding student. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society and served as president of the Chi Alpha Epsilon honor society. Moore was the treasurer of the Black Student Union in 2012. She’s earned either President’s or Dean’s List honors during her four semesters at the College. She is a student member of the National Association for Veterinary Technicians in America.

“Tiffany is easily one of the best students I have ever had the privilege of having in my courses,” said Marriane P. DiMarco-Temkin, who worked with Moore in two sections of biology. “She is self-motivated, prepared and ready to participate in class. She is friendly and outgoing. She is certain to be successful in whatever she endeavors to do.”

She completed her preceptorship, or college-level practical experience training, with the Barbados Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. “I’ve always had pets and love animals,” she said. “I’ve decided to turn my passion into a career.”

She is also a student assistant at the SUNY Canton Davis Health Center and has volunteered at the Potsdam Humane Society. She’s been active in the Pool Enthusiasts Club and is a member of the Zen Do Kai Martial Arts club.

Moore is continuing her education at Cornell University, Ithaca. She plans on becoming a doctor of veterinary medicine.

The Outstanding Graduate Award is given annually to an associate and bachelor’s degree graduate. It is SUNY Canton’s top award given to recognize academic achievement, community service and campus involvement.
