Cosamano a Criminal Investigation major from Holland Patent receives the Baccalaureate Level Outstanding Graduate award from SUNY Canton President Joseph L. Kennedy.

Excellence inside and outside the classroom has led Criminal Investigation graduate Gina Cosamano to be named SUNY Canton’s Baccalaureate Level Outstanding Graduate. She had previously earned an associate degree in Criminal Justice at SUNY Canton and is now graduating with a four-year degree.

“Gina was an outstanding student,” Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biology Nicole Heldt said. “She is very personable, friendly, and has a great sense of humor. She is definitely a high achiever.”

Cosamano was among the honorees at the Marie C. Regan Honors convocation and will again receive recognition at college’s upcoming 99th Commencement Ceremony held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, in Alumni Gymnasium at Dana Athletic Center.

She has been an active member of the Criminal Justice Club and served as club secretary this past year. She assisted with the Sept. 11, 2001 fifth anniversary memorial ceremony and has volunteered at numerous club-sponsored beneficiary events. She is also a member of Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society.

Cosamano has been a math tutor and has been on President’s List for her high grade point average since the Fall 2003 semester. She is a recipient of the Agnes and John N. Burns Family Scholarship through the SUNY Canton Foundation and the New York State Sheriff’s Association Scholarship.

She uses a “lead by example” approach when in management roles and strives to ensure that everyone she works with has input on any given project. “I want everyone to succeed,” Cosamano pointed out. “I believe that sometimes all people need is one other individual to believe in them in order for them to believe in themselves.”
