The host of TLC’s “BBQ PitMasters” will speak at the College at 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9 in the Richard W. Miller Campus Center’s Kingston Theater.
Roberts is most recognized because of his top-ten finalist finish on “The Next Food Network Star.” He has been on more than 100 national and local television shows, including “The Today Show,” CBS’ “The Early Show” and is a regular on “Better TV.”
One of his two cookbooks, “Munchies,” is geared towards college-aged students, young professionals and people looking for quick, simple and tasty alternatives to fast food. His recipes prove there is more to cooking than complex recipes and expensive ingredients. His second cookbook, “Kissing in the Kitchen,” teaches a novice cook how to prepare a romantic dinner.
Roberts is owner and executive chef at San Diego’s award-winning East Village Tavern and Bowl, one of the city’s hottest new downtown urban sports bars. He owns three other sports bars in San Diego.
He tours colleges and universities across the country every year, talking about healthy eating habits, how to keep the ‘Freshman Fifteen’ off, what foods provide the most brain power during those late-night cram sessions, and how to make the best food for a party or event.
The event is sponsored by the College’s College Activities Board and the Student Government Association. It is free and open to the public.
