SUNY Canton has continued its international expansion by joining with the American University in the Emirates (AUE) in Dubai.
Muthanna G. Abdul Razzaq, president and CEO of AUE, and Nabeel A. Jurdi, the university’s provost and vice president for academic affairs, recently visited Canton to officially sign the necessary agreements that will allow their students to earn SUNY Canton degrees.
“This partnership with an internationally renowned university is especially beneficial as we continue our international growth,” said SUNY Canton President Joseph L. Kennedy. “We’re positioning ourselves as the college with the most international programs in the entire SUNY system.”
SUNY Canton plans to offer its four-year Finance program, and AUE officials expressed interest in three other four-year programs. “They’ve expressed an interest in our graphic and multimedia design program and several others,” noted Marela Fiacco, SUNY Canton’s coordinator of international programs. “This agreement should prove to be as successful as our dual degree programs with international universities.”
SUNY Canton currently links with the American University in Bosnia Herzegovina and Lomonosov-Moscow State University. All classes are offered using an online or distance learning format. The college has also developed summer programs for each contingent of international students. Each year students travel from their home countries to visit SUNY Canton and take classes in person.
