SUNY Canton Vet Tech Student
Wins AAUW Scholarship

The St. Lawrence County Branch of the New York State of American Association of University Women (AAUW) recently announced that a 2005 SUNY Canton Veterinary Science Technology graduate is the recipient of a $500 scholarship.
Kevin Mace of Canton, who is a 2003 graduate of Hugh C. Williams Senior High School, is currently attending Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences studying Animal Sciences.
"He was an excellent student," said Mary O'Horo Loomis, Program Director and Professor of Veterinary Science Technology. "He transferred to Cornell University through SUNY Canton's articulation agreement with Cornell University. It was his plan to continue his Animal Sciences education."
Mary Bucher, Chair of the AAUW Scholarship Committee and SUNY Canton Librarian, presented Mace with the scholarship in memory of the late Wilma "Billie" Cummins, who was a member of AAUW and a SUNY Canton Librarian.
In addition to Mace's $500 scholarship award, he will also receive a student membership to the nationally-recognized AAUW organization and a complimentary branch membership.
For more information about AAUW locally, contact St. Lawrence County Branch President Liliana Trevizan at 265-5835 or by e-mail at trevizll@potsdam.edu; or Membership Vice President Anne Malone at 265-0541 or by e-mail at malonear@potsdam.edu. In principle and practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership.
