SUNY Canton Offers Bachelor's
Degrees in Bosnia
SUNY Canton has now added the American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina (AUBiH) to the ever-growing list of international universities that offer its four-year degrees, Provost Jeremy D. Brown announced today.
Beginning for the Fall 2007 Semester, SUNY Canton will be offering its signature four-year Financial Services degree at AUBiH. This accord is based on SUNY Canton's successful international ties with Moscow State University in Russia, Kherson State University in Ukraine, and Osaka College of Foreign Languages in Japan.
"Our signature four-year programs continue to gain an international appeal," said Brown. "Our colleagues from overseas realize the opportunity a dual-degree from SUNY Canton presents for their students and the efficiency with which we can deliver courses through distance learning."
This agreement followed a visit from Denis Prcic, Chairman of the Board at AUBiH. Brown and Prcic signed a memorandum of understanding; an agreement linking the colleges for this endeavor.
"Our agreement links our College of International Banking with SUNY Canton's School of Business and Public Service," said Prcic. "It will also allow students to fast track into SUNYIT's master of business administration (MBA) degree."
Students who Fast Track within programs begin studying for their MBA while simultaneously working on their undergraduate degree, effectively shortening the amount of time required to complete both degrees.
"The goals of both colleges are remarkably similar," noted Brown. "Both provide top-quality education and learning, adapt to changing economies, and educate new generations of professionals."
Some courses will be offered through SUNY Canton's highly regarded online format, which has already broken geographic barriers at other locations and created a global classroom for students in Northern New York. Other courses may be offered via SUNY Canton's distance learning, or through video conferencing. All courses at AUBiH are taught in English, so there won't be a language barrier among students or instructors in class.
SUNY Canton is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this year and is in the midst of its highly successful SUNY Canton Centennial Campaign: Cultivating the Minds of Tomorrow. In addition to 22 associate degree programs, SUNY Canton currently offers 12 four-year degrees with plans to announce several other new programs during the next academic year. SUNY Canton also offers three unique master's degrees in conjunction with SUNYIT, Utica.
