SUNY Canton Awards $20,000 in
Campus Enhancement Awards
The SUNY Canton College Foundation has awarded 12 grants totaling $20,000 to faculty and staff to improve students' academic experiences and enhance the overall learning environment of the college.
"The Campus Enhancement awards are one of the outlets that the SUNY Canton College Foundation uses to positively direct donations to the college," noted Vice President for Advancement David M. Gerlach. "These awards, along with the $30,000 in Faculty and Staff Awards and $10,000 in Tuition assistance are only possible through the generous support of our charitable donors. In a very real sense, every single donation is helping us drive the advancement of the college and our students' experience."
The enhancement awards committee evaluated each proposal's contribution to the SUNY Canton community, the creativity and innovation of the program, among other criteria.
Among the Campus Enhancement Awards were:
- A $1200 award to purchase Engine Simulation Software for students in the Automotive Engineering Technology curriculum.
- A $443 award to send students in the Physical Therapist Assistant's club to Body Worlds 2 Exhibit at the Museum of Science in Boston.
- A $1797 award to help create a scientific calculator loan program through SUNY Canton's EOP program.
- A $3900 award to purchase instruments for the SUNY Canton Gospel Choir.
- A $1960 award to create a High School-level forensics competition.
- A $3000 award to update the equipment used by students in the Automotive Engineering Technology Curriculum.
- Two awards totaling $4000 to purchase equipment for the college's upcoming New Media bachelor's degree.
- A $200 award for the EOP Awards Reception.
- A $1000 award for students and a faculty member to attend a National Women's Studies Association Annual Conference.

The SUNY Canton College Foundation solicits and encourages alumni, friends, businesses and corporations as well as other foundations to make donations to SUNY Canton. Tuition does not cover the many costs of operating a growing college. In order to maintain our competitive standing, SUNY Canton relies on several funding sources to meet its priorities: advance academic quality, build stronger support for student excellence, cultivate innovative partnerships, develop and maintain cutting-edge technologies, and enhance campus life.
SUNY Canton is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this year and is in the midst of its highly successful SUNY Canton Centennial Campaign: Cultivating the Minds of Tomorrow. In addition to 22 associate degree programs, SUNY Canton currently offers 12 four-year degrees with plans to announce several other new programs during the next academic year. SUNY Canton also offers three unique master's degrees in conjunction with SUNYIT, Utica.
