$5,000 Cruise Added to SUNY Canton Gala Items
The SUNY Canton Centennial Gala cruised into the final week of preparations with the donation of the event's largest auction item.
College Foundation Chair Joel M. Canino, Class of 1959, has donated a seven-night cruise aboard the newest and largest cruise ship ever built, "Freedom of the Seas" launched by Royal Caribbean.
The cruise will depart from Miami and include stops in Cozumel, Mexico; Georgetown, Grand Cayman; Montego Bay, Jamaica; and Labadee, Hispaniola. The package also features a deluxe ocean-view stateroom with private balcony, roundtrip airfare from a nearby airport to Miami, transfers to and from airport to ship, port charges, meals and taxes for two. The estimated value of the entire package is more than $5,000.
The Centennial Gala begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at SUNY Canton's Cheney Dining Center. The Gala promises to be an extraordinary evening filled with food, fun, friends, dancing, live and silent auctions, lots of laughs, new acquaintances, and much more. Funds raised will endow a scholarship for SUNY Canton students.
"There are more than 300 items to bid on ranging from $20 to $5,000, so we've got a little something for everyone," said Gala Committee Director Marti King MacArthur. "It's going to be a wonderful evening and we invite everyone to join us for this once in a lifetime event."
Another item that has just come in for the auction is a 1982 Honda C90C Motorcycle, donated by Mort Backus of Ogdensburg. Other items include numerous getaways, antiques, artwork, personal services, sports tickets, golf clubs, jewelry, household and garden items, and much more.
The Centennial Gala is open to the public. Tickets for the event are available by calling 315-386-7127 or 800-811-6727 or e-mail foundation@canton.edu.
