SUNY Canton Prepares Additional Fun for Fall Festival
Several more activities and venues will be joining favorites like
the SUNY Canton Auto Club "Cruise In" and the Craft Fair, at the Fall
Festival and Family Weekend.
The SUNY Canton Auto Club "Cruise In," an event for area antique, custom, and classic car owners and enthusiasts will be held Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Nevaldine Hall South parking lot. "We had to move locations to add parking for the event," said Denis E. Tuper, Automotive Instructional Support Associate. "We usually have a wide variety of trucks and cars that create quite a sight for anyone who likes colorful custom rides. We expect many past automotive students to come for this event."
The Ropes Course will also be swinging with action from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday near the footbridge area, behind Smith Residence Hall. Instructor Marty Clark-Stone will be available to take participants through a series of challenges.
The always popular Craft Show and Sale will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Miller Campus Center Gym.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Miller Campus Center, students from the Nursing Department will be on hand to check your blood pressure, which may rise slightly after completing the ropes course. They will also be handing out health information.
This year, the College will be offering an off-campus event that is a must for any North Country history or art enthusiast; SUNY Canton Days will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, at the Frederic Remington Art Museum in Ogdensburg. A shuttle van will be leaving parking lot 13 every half hour to bring anyone interested in Frederic Remington and his contributions to American Art, and to Canton. For more information, stop by the Fall Festival Registration Desk, located at the Miller Campus Center.
There will be a book sale from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, at the Southworth Library. While you stock up on winter reading material, be sure to stop by the Cyber Café for a fresh cup of coffee.
The Northern New York Alumni Social, sponsored by the SUNY Canton Alumni Association is scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday in the Miller Campus Center, Room 212. Alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to stop by and say hello to old friends and make new ones. Complimentary cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be available.
