Regan Flag Station Dedication

Local veterans, SUNY Canton officials, alumni, and community members were in attendance at the dedication of a new monument honoring the commitment and sacrifice of the North Country men and women who gave their lives defending American freedoms.
United States Army Veteran and 1965 Alumnus Bernard Creighton Regan, and his wife, Jane M. Regan donated the funding for the Regan Flag Station, which graces the entrance to the college. Bernie Regan is a native of Massena. The Regans now reside in Sarasota, Florida.
"I want to thank Bernie and Jane Regan for making this wonderful flag station possible," said Vice President for Advancement David M. Gerlach during the ceremony. "It will stand as a great symbol of your dedication to SUNY Canton and your love and respect for our nation and those who have served in the armed forces. I thank you both for making such meaningful investments in SUNY Canton. Your example has inspired others to participate in our Centennial Campaign which challenges the college to raise $10 million over the next five years."
The Regans are long-time benefactors of SUNY Canton. In the past, they established the Bernard C. Regan Family Endowed Scholarship to support students in the Air Conditioning Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology curriculums.
"Mr. and Mrs. Regan's donation has created a permanent and beautiful fixture at the entryway of our college," said SUNY Canton President Joseph L. Kennedy. "He envisioned a monument that honors fallen heroes and displays the American, New York State, and college flags prominently on campus. This ceremony is a wonderful addition to our Centennial Celebration."
Regan graduated from ATI's Electrical Technology program. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1971 and later worked for United Parcel Service (UPS) in the company's corporate domestic and international engineering group. "I have always wanted to give something back to the North Country and the College," Regan said. "This donation also gave me the chance to honor the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces."
SUNY Canton is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this year and is in the midst of its highly successful SUNY Canton Centennial Campaign: Cultivating the Minds of Tomorrow. In addition to 22 associate degree programs, SUNY Canton currently offers 12 four-year degrees with plans to announce several other new programs during the next academic year. SUNY Canton also offers three unique master's degrees in conjunction with SUNYIT, Utica.
