Honored for Running Relief Effort

A runner who orchestrated an event that raised over $5,500 for victims of Hurricane Katrina was lauded by SUNY Canton President Joseph L. Kennedy.
Chris Marquart, SUNY Canton Residence Hall Director, almost single-handedly organized the recent “Hurricane Katrina Relief Relay.” More than 70 runners and walkers joined Marquart as he circled the Canton Village Park at intervals during a 24-hour period.
"I want to thank Chris for his remarkable effort," said Kennedy."The Relay for Relief was one of the most substantial fundraising events for the American Red Cross at SUNY Canton."
Kennedy, who ran two miles of the relay with the group, awarded Marquart with a "mugging" for his efforts at this event. Muggings are one of the ways that Kennedy personally rewards those who exceed expectations at the College. Recipients are caught unaware when the President stops by with a SUNY Canton mug filled with goodies.
