SUNY Canton Office Technology Interns

Gain On-The-Job Experience

Small logo Area businesses provided on-the-job experience and, in some cases, employment for SUNY Canton Office Technology interns.

"Internships provide great work experience for our students," said Dr. Jonathan Gueverra, SUNY Canton School of Business and Public Service Dean. "North Country businesses have provided infinite professional development for the students. They have also granted an opportunity for interns to begin applying what they have learned in their classes."

SUNY Canton students who worked with North Country businesses include:

  • Keily Day, an Office Technology: Administrative Assistant major from Lisbon, recently completed an internship with Betty Dawley at the Superintendent's Office at Madrid-Waddington Central School, Madrid. Day is a 2003 graduate of Madrid-Waddington Central School.
  • Sarah Ellis, an Office Technology: Administrative Assistant major from Massena, recently completed an internship with Helen McLean, Director of Accommodative Services at Clarkson University, Potsdam. Ellis is a 2002 graduate of Massena Central School.
  • Gabrielle LaTray, an Office Technology: Administrative Assistant major from Croghan, recently completed an internship with Carrie Tracy, a Community Educator with Citizens Against Violent Acts, Canton. LaTray is a 2003 graduate of Beaver River Central School.
  • Bobbi-Jo Robar, an Office Technology: Administrative Assistant major from Potsdam recently completed an internship with Helen McLean, Director of Accommodative Services at Clarkson University, Potsdam. Robar is a 2003 graduate of Potsdam Central School.
  • Melanie Manning-Streeter, a Business Administration major from Canton, recently completed an internship with Jodi Revill, SUNY Canton Director of Admissions, Canton.
  • Tina Taillon, an Office Technology: Administrative Assistant major from Colton, recently completed an internship with Mathew Duprey of Lekki Hill Fischer and Duprey, P.C., Canton. Taillon was hired by the law offices after she completed her internship. Taillon is a 1986 graduate of Potsdam Central School.
  • Kimberly Taylor, an Office Technology: Administrative Assistant major from Madrid, recently completed an internship that also led to employment with the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Medical Records Department, Potsdam. Taylor is a 1982 graduate of Lisbon Central School. Taylor was also recently awarded a scholarship for non-traditional students from the Zonta Club of Ogdensburg.

Internships play a key role in the professional development of the SUNY Canton Office Technology students, according to Gueverra. Potential future internships will soon be sought for SUNY Canton's newest Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Technology Management, which begins this fall.
