The Prius was donated by TJ Toyota of Potsdam and the Cloce Family for the benefit of the SUNY Canton College Foundation and Auto Club.

The ceremonial drawing was held in the Automotive Lab of Nevaldine Technology Center and featured SUNY Canton President Joseph L. Kennedy, Ed Cloce, class of 1959, from T.J. Toyota, and SUNY Canton Vice President of Advancement David M. Gerlach.

When Gerlach reached Slocum by speaker phone during the event, she said, "You're not going to believe what I'm driving right now; it's a '93 Escort."

Several members of the college's Foundation staff were traveling to Morristown to deliver the car this afternoon. The car is valued at approximately $22.500.

The raffle raised more than $34,000 as part of the highly successful SUNY Canton Centennial Campaign. Assistant Professor of Automotive Engineering Technology Brandon Baldwin, Canino School of Engineering Technology Dean David Wells, and Automotive Student Corrine Bell of Greenwich also took part in the ceremony.

The second place prize, Prepaid Verizon Wireless Cell Phones from Universe Cellular and Dish valued at $500, was won by Jerry McRoberts of Ogdensburg. Universe Cellular and Dish, owned by Kevin Fear, class of '87, has stores located in Watertown, DeWitt, and Fayetteville.

Third place was a $250 Gift Card to the SUNY Canton Bookstore. It was won by James Willits, a College Association Employee. Willits was one of 56 employees whose tickets were bought by their employer as a token of appreciation.
