Residence Halls Full at SUNY Canton
On-campus residence halls at SUNY Canton have filled to capacity for this fall, prompting campus officials to seek information on remaining student housing opportunities in the Canton area.
More than 1000 students have paid deposits to live in the four residence halls on campus, according to Courtney Battista, SUNY Canton's Director of Residence Life. The tight housing situation on campus is due to the continued growth in enrollment, particularly from larger than anticipated numbers of transfer and continuing students.
"The number of transfer students enrolling in our four-year programs has surpassed our expectations," Director of Admissions Jodi Revill said. "It is wonderful to see such a strong interest in the programs."
There are a limited number of spaces available in some programs, according to Revill. Prospective students interested in enrolling should contact the admissions office at 315-386-7123 or 800-388-7123.
Landlords who expect to have vacancies or homeowners interested in renting rooms in their homes may contact the housing office at (315) 386-7513 or email their information to reslife@canton.edu
Students are allowed to begin moving in to the Residence Halls this Sunday beginning at 12 noon. Convocation will be held on Monday at 11:30 a.m. followed by a campus-wide picnic. Classes begin at SUNY Canton on Tuesday, August 29.
SUNY Canton is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this year and is in the midst of its highly successful SUNY Canton Centennial Campaign: Cultivating the Minds of Tomorrow. In addition to 22 associate degree programs, SUNY Canton currently offers 12 four-year degrees with plans to announce several other new programs during the next academic year. SUNY Canton also offers three unique master's degrees in conjunction with SUNYIT, Utica. Applications for admission will be accepted until the first day of classes on August 28.
