SUNY Canton Announces Faculty and Staff Promotions

  SUNY Canton President Joseph L. Kennedy announced that several faculty and staff members have achieved new ranks at SUNY Canton.

Carli C. Schiffner, a former Assistant Professor of History, who received her Doctorate Specializing in American, Women's, and Modern East Asian History from Washington State University, was promoted to Executive Assistant to SUNY Canton President Joseph L. Kennedy. "The Executive Assistant has to be able to work on ten projects at the same time, often in areas as diverse as biodiesel, homeland defense, or the economics of starting a new airline," said Kennedy "You have to be smart, confident, well-informed, and energetic. Cher Rooney of the SUNY Canton University Police Department and recent recipient of the 2005 SUNY Canton College Council Employee Recognition Award was promoted to Secretary 1. Pictured are (from left) Betty Connolly, Director of Human Resources, Rooney, William F. Mason, University Police Chief, and Daniel J. Sweeney, Vice President of Student Affairs. Rooney is known around campus for her friendly voice on the phone at the University Police Station, according to Sweeney.

Anne Williams of the SUNY Canton Institutional Advancement Department was promoted to Secretary 2. Pictured are (from left) Betty Connolly, Director of Human Resources, Dave Gerlach, Vice President of Institutional Advancement, and Williams. Williams has helpful information for everyone who asks, and always has a contagious positive outlook. "As a 27-year employee Anne brings the history, skills and talent beyond measurement, to the Office of the Vice President," said Gerlach. "Her resourcefulness and professionalism has been integral in the Institutional Advancement Division."
