New Associate Degree for Verizon Employees
at SUNY Canton
SUNY Canton is now the home of Telecommunications Technology associate degree program exclusively for Verizon employees.
"We're pleased to be partnering with Verizon and offering their employees the opportunity to further their education and careers," said SUNY Canton President Joseph L. Kennedy. "Although this degree is exclusively for Verizon employees, it reflects our overall philosophy of offering career-driven, hands-on programs."
The associate degree program is designed to further prepare Verizon employees for their future with the Fortune 10 Company. Certified faculty members and Verizon professionals developed the curriculum in conjunction with members of the SUNY Canton faculty and staff.
"We can expect our students within the Canino School of Engineering Technology to grow through their interaction with the Verizon professionals," noted Canino School Dean David Wells.
This program is exclusive to Verizon employees, so SUNY Canton will not be recruiting incoming freshman for the program. Verizon promotes enrollment in the program by offering title and salary upgrades to participating employees. Workers receive paid tuition, books, and a laptop computer from Verizon to assist with their studies.
According to investor information, Verizon is one of the world's leading providers of communications services. The company is also a provider of advanced communications and information technology solutions to customers world-wide.
SUNY Canton is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this year and is in the midst of its highly successful SUNY Canton Centennial Campaign: Cultivating the Minds of Tomorrow. In addition to 22 associate degree programs, SUNY Canton currently offers 12 four-year degrees with plans to announce several other new programs during the next academic year. SUNY Canton also offers three unique master's degrees in conjunction with SUNYIT, Utica.
