New Vice President Shares Enthusiasm with SUNY Canton
SUNY Canton welcomes its newest Vice President, Brian J. Lee who brings enthusiasm for meaningful results to the College.
"Brian brings many years of experience from a variety of business settings," said SUNY President Joseph L. Kennedy. "I like the management style and fresh perspectives he brings to SUNY Canton."
Lee is serving the college as Interim Vice President for Administrative Services, a position created through the retirement of former Vice President Carson Smith, earlier this year.
"My experience in private sector management is transferable to the long- and short-range planning and management needs of the College," said Lee. "My greatest pleasure is working with good people to achieve meaningful results."
Lee first became involved with SUNY Canton as an Economic Developer when the College and the St. Lawrence County Office of Economic Development, and others, began working on the Anaerobic Digester project. The digester will use dairy waste from the teRiele Brothers' farm in Canton, to create energy and reduce the farm's environmental footprint. The digester is slated to go online during the Fall 2006 semester. "Probably because of my industry background, I have a long-standing personal interest in alternative renewable energy sources," Lee said.
Lee is the Former President and General Manager of McCadam Cheese Company, Inc., Heuvelton and Chateauguay. He brings a team-based managerial philosophy which he will apply to all aspects of his current post, which includes overseeing the facilities for the College. "The very best organizations achieve meaningful results when their 'stakeholders' work together as integrated teams," Lee said.
He identified SUNY Canton's stakeholders as the administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community. "With these stakeholders working together effectively, the success and growth of the College will continue long into the future," Lee said.
Lee is a St. Lawrence University alumnus, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. He earned his Master of Business Administration Degree in Operations Management from Union College, Schenectady. He currently resides in Canton, with his wife Barbara. They have two daughters: Adria who attends Ithaca College; and Melissa, who is currently studying at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis.
