Village Water Tower Gets Fresh Coat at SUNY Canton

BEFORE AND AFTER – The Canton Village water tower, located near the entrance of SUNY Canton, has been given a face lift. The left image of this composite photograph shows the water tower as Chris Brooks of Cattaraugus Indian Reservation, and Iliyan Ilive of Lackawanna apply a coat of Zinc primer. The exterior sandblasting was done with a portable, remote-controlled machine that cleans up the debris left when removing the years of paint, according to contractor Rick Szsyzkowski, of Boston, N.Y. The two sky-bound painters were assisted at the ground level by Chris’s brother Robert and Rick’s brother Mark. The right image shows the water tower bearing the SUNY Canton logo, freshly painted. The stenciled logo was completed on Sunday, Sept. 11, and the tower will be filled with water this week, according to Global contractor Larry Fotevski of Orchard Park.
