Security Officer/Guard Training
The Security Guard Act of 1992 became law on July 17, 1992. This legislation established uniform standards for the employment, registration, and training of security guards and the security guard industry. Consequently, security guards in New York State must complete the following course:

Saturday, October 1, 2011 SUNY Canton Payson Hall 111 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday, April 21, 2012 SUNY Canton Payson Hall 111 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
SUNY Canton is offering the Eight Hour Pre-Assignment Training. Upon demand, SUNY Canton can offer the Sixteen-Hour On-the-Job Training Course and the Forty-Hour NYS Enhanced Security Training for Security Officers/Guards. These courses are approved by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Office of Public Safety.
We offer the Pre-Assignment Training 2-3 times per year. The full-day course is typically offered on a Saturday in late Winter and again early in the Fall. The next Security Guard course will be offered as follows:
SUNY Canton also offers these courses on a contract basis. If you have a larger group and would prefer to have one or both of these courses taught for your people, we can organize and deliver these courses for you. We can host the courses in one of our classrooms or deliver the course at your worksite, whichever is most convenient for you. Please contact us for more information.
