Unique
Two aspects that differentiate this program from others:
- It can be completed entirely online
- It progresses from the two-year Veterinary Science Technology degree offered right here at SUNY Canton.
Hands-on Training
The hands-on aspect of this program consists of a 12-week internship in a practice management setting at the culmination of the program. There is also a significant amount of hands-on training in the first two years of this four-year program.
Online Convenience
The final two-years of this four-year program is available online. Some of the courses are also available on campus for those students who prefer to take them on campus.
Well-rounded Curriculum
Students take courses in business, accounting, mathematics, health services management, and veterinary services management. Interesting courses include:

- Issues & Perspectives in Veterinary Medicine
- Internship for Veterinary Services Management
Certified Success
Graduates of this program fulfill the educational requirements for certification as a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager.

- American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA): The professional organization for veterinarians (DVMs)
- The professional organization for Veterinary Practice Managers - the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association(VHMA). The VHMA certifies CVPMs (Certified Veterinary Practice Managers).
- Following completion of the two-year Veterinary Science Technology degree, students can join the professional organization for veterinary technicians called the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA).
