Start-Up NY is Governor Andrew Cuomo's initiative to create tax-free communities on SUNY campuses across the State. Many new and expanding New York businesses, as well as companies relocating from out-of-state, are eligible to participate.
Businesses in this program will be able to operate 100% tax-free for 10 years. This means:
- No income tax for employees
- No business or corporate State or local taxes
- No sales tax
- No property tax
- No franchise fees
SUNY Canton wants to use this program for the benefit of our students, faculty, and staff and to help our community thrive economically. To learn more about how Start-Up NY will work at SUNY Canton, visit the Start-Up @ SUNY Canton page.
SUNY Canton has limited office space available on Campus, as well as several acres of visible and convenient land ready to be developed. We have also partnered with the St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) to offer a facility within a mile of Campus that offers 6,000 square feet of customizable and divisible space. The IDA, in cooperation with SUNY Canton, has additional sizable facilities located in Ogdensburg and Massena - both St. Lawrence County ports with bridges to Canada - which may be designated tax-free zones under the Start- Up NY Program with permission of the ESD Commissioner.
SUNY Canton is currently highlighting several Marquee Properties, and additional buildings or land may become available.
