Energy Saving Made Easy - Flyer

Kill-o-Watt Meter Available: Check it out!

A great way to start saving energy in your office, dorm room, or home is finding out how much electricity various appliances take to run by using a watt meter. Southworth Library has two kill-o-watt meters on library reserve. They can be checked out for up to a week with a SUNY Canton ID card at the library’s circulation desk.

Watt meters are easy to use. Just plug the watt meter into a wall socket and then plug the appliance or device into the watt meter and read the display window. In many cases, users are surprised not only by how much electricity a particular appliance uses, but also that many devices use small amounts of electricity even when turned “off”. Beyond these practical benefits, using watt meters has the effect of making us more aware and mindful of our overall energy use.
