Homeland Security: Campus Information
University Police along with campus agencies and organizations are prepared to ensure that SUNY Canton is safe and secure for the entire university community regardless of the alert status. However when the national alert is raised, the campus will also increase security and surveillance. SUNY Canton University Police has worked hard to upgrade our safety environment and improve emergency planning and response. Our approach is constantly being reviewed to ensure that our campus continues to be a positive and appropriate living and learning environment.
In the event of an increase in the National Security Level, signs will be posted, stating "Elevated Security in Effect." It is imperative at this time to carry photo identification, have a proper parking permit displayed and to report any suspicious persons or activity to University Police at 7777.
Most importantly, be alert and don't be afraid to call someone if you're concerned. Never be afraid to contact University Police if you see something that does not look right. In the unlikely event of an emergency, look to these places for updates and information:
- Campus television network
- Local media outlets
- Residence hall staff
- Information counters at the campus center
- University Police
Even in times of national uncertainty, Canton remains a positive place for learning, living and working.
