Text Box: Happy Holidays everyone! I’m sure, like us, you’re working towards a well-earned vacation. As I write to you, I’m eagerly awaiting your arrival on campus for our Holiday party. It’s always a great feeling to have you together in a relaxed atmosphere.

I also want to share some remarkable news with you. During the month of November, Michele and I focused a lot of energy on completing our Annual Performance Report for the U.S. Department of Education. As part of that process, we reviewed your academic performance from this past year. As a group, you’re improving at the strongest rate in years. Here’s what I’m talking about: last year, 70% of our students improved their high school GPA from their previous year’s cumulative high school GPA. Collectively, you’re showing great promise and you’re giving us all a sense of optimism about your future.

It’s clear that many of you are working hard to improve your performance. UB students whose high school grades improved the most over their previous high school grades included: Tori Barden, Samantha Bennett, Deneen Cole, Jon Cree, Carmine Cruz, Nate Cutway, Anne Ellis, Christine Fefee, David Francis, Bryan Hubbard, Natalie Jarrett, Amberdawn LaFrance, Mary LaFrance, Ryan McDonald, Erin McKeever, Heaven Monroe, Amanda Osborne, Jen Pirie, Matt Rose, Erica Saber, Chris Sawatis, Cassandra Scheirer, Shannon Stefanowicz, Chelsea Sunday, Haylee Sunday, Tiffany Taylor, Miranda Therrien, Joey Thompson, Pat Umphries, Desirae White, and Vanna White.

A number of these students have graduated and a few have simply left the program. Still others continue to grow with us and we hope that they will, by their example, continue to lead our students toward academic progress. Of particular note among our veteran UB students, Jon Cree, Christine Fefee, Mary LaFrance, Erin McKeever, Amanda Osborne, and Cassie Scheirer improved their grades by leaps and bounds. Your performance is inspiring!

Keep up the good work, we’re proud of all of you. We’re paying attention and we know that you are recognizing the difference that your work is going to make in helping you earn a college degree.

Thanks for your effort and have a great Holiday Season!
