Text Box: Dear Parent or Guardian, We’re more than a month into the 2003-2004 school year. Summer is just a memory now and many UB school year activities have begun. Counselors are meeting with students in their target schools and tutoring is underway as well. Our first field trip looks to be well-attended as a record 60 students have already signed up to participate in our trip to Watertown. Our staff continues to reach out to you, our UB parents, to help motivate and inspire your teens toward high school and college achievement. With that in mind, we have decided to hold two parent workshops this year while still providing monthly activities for our UB students. The first of these will be held on Saturday, November 8th. For this event, we’re asking parents to bring their teens to campus. Students and parents will participate in separate afternoon activities: parents will attend a workshop on helping their teens respond to the many challenges of adolescence while students attend the Potsdam Diversity Festival at SUNY Potsdam. After having dinner altogether, we will all go to an SLU Men’s Hockey Game. We’ll pay for tickets and meals. We’re asking that you provide transportation for yourselves and your teens and that you come ready to share your frustrations and success stories. Bring out your cheering voices too! The hockey team looks pretty strong this year. Well, we’re off and running and we hope you’re on board for the ride! See you soon! Text Box: UPWARD BOUND
