Text Box: Dear Parent or Guardian,

I write today with the pleasure of sharing some good news with you. In November, we submitted annual report information to the federal government for the 2002-03 school year. In reviewing this information, we found something remarkable. Over the past few years, our students have begun to improve their grades at a rate that has increased every year. Last year, 70% of our students improved their GPA over their high school GPA at the end of 2001-02. By comparison, about 58% of our students improved their GPA in 2001-02 and 51% improved their GPA in 2000-01.

There’s something special going on here now and we are really proud of our students’ performance. We feel confident that our parents are helping to make a difference. Here’s hoping that your teen will make strides this year toward improving his performance and achieving his goals. He’ll need your support.

Speaking of which, we are also proud to report that 26 parents and 20 students attended our November Event which included a Parent Workshop, a Diversity Festival (for the students), and a Hockey Game. Though we’re still waiting on a few evaluations, the responses so far have been overwhelmingly positive. Parents shared their experiences, concerns, and successes with one another during the workshop and several folks expressed interest in the next event. The SLU Hockey Game was a big hit as well as many parents (and students) attended for the first time. SLU shut out RPI 4-0 and we all went home happy, though a bit frosty too!

Well, stay with it. Give us a call if you need anything and let us know your successes too. Your children are our primary focus, but we’re always happy to help our parents as well.
