Commencement Update

Dear graduating seniors,

We recognize that many of you and your families are looking forward to celebrating your tremendous accomplishments at SUNY Canton by participating in your Commencement Ceremony. We are excited, too! We remain committed to holding a live Commencement on campus as soon as it is safe to do so. However, the current pandemic crisis prevents us from holding it on its original date, which was Saturday, May 9.

We all look forward to honoring the outstanding work and scholarship of our seniors. In the meantime, we’d like to hear from students and their families on possible rescheduling options and get their feedback on how to make this an extra-special event. Please take a moment to fill out a survey and share your thoughts.

We’ve been in touch with our local hotels, which are offering refunds or reservation transfers without penalty. If you scheduled through an online booking agency, you’ll likely need to reach out to that provider for a refund.

Further Commencement details will be shared as plans are finalized.

The annual Honors Convocation celebration and the Vice President for Student Affairs’ Specialty Student Awards Ceremony will be held virtually this year. Both of the Nurses’ Pinning Ceremonies will be rescheduled for a later date. Please stay posted for further information about all of those events.

Thank you for your time, patience, and understanding. Be well and stay healthy!
