Updated Vaccination Information
I understand that many of you who are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine have had trouble getting a local appointment. Vaccination sites will be opening across the county very soon at locations in Gouverneur, Star Lake, Massena, Ogdensburg, and Potsdam. As these sites open and more vaccines become available, additional appointments will be available.
The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department issued the following statement:
“If you are in an eligible group, you will be given the opportunity to select a vaccination clinic that is convenient to you. The sites are constantly updated as vaccine becomes available – if you do not see an option, please check back frequently. At this time there is only a limited supply of vaccines due to national shortages, so appointments are currently limited.”
You can visit this website for additional information, as well as a link to the form to register for vaccination: https://covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov.
The New York State Department of Health has also set up a hotline for questions regarding vaccination: 1-833-NYS-4VAX (1-833-697-4829).
It should be noted that this phase of vaccinations is expected to take 14 weeks or more to complete, so please be patient.
New York State has designated “in-person college faculty and instructors” as eligible to receive the vaccine in Phase 1b. I will continue to update the campus if anything changes.
Thank you, again, for your commitment to keeping SUNY Canton safe and welcoming.
